Photographer's comments
This is a toad photographed in the small "Ikebukuro Forest" ward park located in the Ikebukuro district of Toshima-ku, Tokyo. With the slow synchro setting, I ended up with some blurring, but this gave an unexpected dynamic quality to the image. His friends can often be seen in the park, especially when it rains.
Reason for selection
The vivid contrast produced by daytime synchro flash communicates a feeling of vital energy. This is an image in which the use of flash in combination with a slow shutter speed enabled the photographer to clearly express what he wanted to communicate to the viewer.(Judge:Ryo Ohwada)
