In one of the underground corridors of Shinjuku Station, there was a large advertising poster featuring the hair of a beautiful woman. When a woman with similar brown-dyed hair passed in front of the poster, I instantly took the shot with a composition in which the brown hair could be compared. |

The photographer did a great job of not missing the momentary shutter chance. The critical compositional elements were also successfully captured. The flowing hair of the ad on the left and the ponytail of the young woman moving away to the right: the flow towards both sides of the image holds important significance, with the effective realization of this contrast enlivening the photograph. There is a pervasive sense of movement in the image, which gives the viewer a feeling of large size. In these and other aspects, including the color scheme, this photograph communicates the urban sense of the photographer.(Judge:Yasutaka TANJI) |
