I visited Shirakawa Village as light snow fell.
On my way to the observation deck, I passed an ordinary persimmon tree.
The beauty of the persimmons lightly dusted with snow stopped me so I took a picture. |

With a bold, courageous angle, the photographer faces the persimmon tree head on. Elaborate fine tuning is unnecessary. Dropped straight into the center of the image, the persimmon tree endures, standing up to the wind and snow. Photographs with just this much can be frequently found, but here the photographer takes care to also give us a feeling for the lives of the rural villagers by adding a small hut in the background. As I look at this image, behind the beauty I feel the approach of the coldest days of winter. |
