It is wonderful the way the form and colors of the fanned feathers fill the image. This is truly a formal beauty created by the natural world. Avoiding symmetry by shifting the peacock slightly off center was a great idea. Square-format photography is totally unforgiving with respect to extraneous elements, and it is easy to end up with an ordinary image. In this case, however, the photographer has superbly overcome such pitfalls of the format to produce a highly accomplished work. |
