Finding a gingko tree with a wonderful profusion of branches, I leaned on the roots to take this photograph. The golden ginkgo leaves were at their peak of color, and under the autumn light they gave me a sense of expansiveness, as if I had stretched my body fully and freely. |

I would say that this photograph succeeds in expressing what was intended... With the golden ginkgo leaves spread wide across the sky, the image is also impeccably cropped so as to suggest the scenery outside the boundaries of the photograph. In addition, the vine twined around the trunk draws a superbly balanced line and, along with the massive feel of the trunk, serves as supporting player to the staring ginkgo leaves. |
