This is an image of the winter illumination displayed each winter season at Nabana no Sato (Nagashima). Combined with the red and orange balls added as accents, the white light of LEDs embedded in small flower-shaped crystals creates a scene like a galaxy in space. |

Moved by the illumination, the photographer visualized outer space. We can read the photographer's intentions in the way that most of the image is taken up by the flickering of countless lights that are neither garish nor flashy, while the people appear as small silhouettes at the bottom. Still, I think that maybe underexposing a bit or adding contrast so as not to show the appearance of the people might have produced a tighter image more expressive of infinite creation. |
