Troubleshooting / Failure diagnosis
This page will give you hints on troubleshooting. If you have some difficulity on a camera operating, refer the link pertaining to your case.
Battery
Lens/Flash/Display/Picture/Sound (Photography)
- The lens will not retract/eject. The lens cover will not open/close.
- It will not work zooming/stop zooming.
- A captured image is out of focus./It looks like blurred.
- The flash will not work.
- A captured image is dark, even though a flash works.
- Nothing appears in the LCD./No menu appears./Images does not appear in the LCD./The LCD become black.
- The LCD displays a distorted view./White noise appears in the LCD.
- A vertical line appears in the LCD, when I take a picture in a strong light.
- Some spots are found in a captured image.
- A picture is too bright./ A picture is too dark.
- A picture lacks natural color./It's way off white balance.
- An image will not be recorded.
- A recorded movie will not sound.
- [CX4 / CX3 / GXR] Why does HD 1280 movie recording stop before it reaches the remaining recording time available in the screen ?
Switch/Dial/Exterior (Operating/Exterior related)
- A button/switch will not work.
- By pressing the shutter release button, "Card is write-protected" message appears.
- The battery cover will not close or will not open./The battery will not lock.
- The mode dial will not turn or rounds in circles, or the mode will not change to the specified.
- When I turn the ADJ dial, the power turns off by itself, or it went out. The display will not switch even though turning the ADJ dial.
- It is hard to half-press (focus lock) the shutter release button./I am unable to focus lock.
Others
(Connecting a computer/Memory cards/Error codes)
- I cannot take a picture with a memory card and an error code appears.
- I cannot connect a camera to a computer.
- I cannot load a memory card./'Insert a card' message appears even though I load a camera with a memory card.
- "Unmatched file" message appears.
- [CX4 / CX3 / CX2] Firmware update procedure won't work. I get "No File" message only.
