Digital SLR Cameras: K20D

Six custom-image settings add distinctive finishing touches with specific color schemes
In
the past, photographers used many different types of film or invented their original
printing techniques to pursue particular color schemes and finishing touches
that best matched their creative themes or sensibilities. With the K20D, such
time-consuming, troublesome work is a thing of the past. No extensive knowledge
is required because it offers six distinctive custom-image settings. Each custom-image
setting is preprogrammed to a specific set of visual factors, including color
scheme, brightness, contrast and sharpness. As a result, the desired finishing
touch are easily applied to your image simply by selecting the custom-image setting
corresponding to your creative theme. In addition, when you select the quick-view
mode on the K20D, the selected custom-image setting and levels of all affecting
factors, along with the recorded image, are displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor
immediately after shooting.
Finishing-touch adjustment allows further color scheme adjustments for highly customized images
All
photographic factors of the six custom-image settings can be further adjusted
to accommodate your finishing-touch preferences. While checking a digital-preview
image on the LCD monitor, you can adjust contrast and sharpness levels. With
color images, you can make minute adjustment of saturation and hue levels. With
monochromatic images, you can add digital-filter effects and make tone-level
adjustment. The sharpness mode can also be switched to the fine sharpness mode,
which delivers a more natural finishing touch with true-to-life subject outlines
because it does not thicken the subject’s outline even when the sharpness level
is intensified.
Since custom images are recorded by the K20D as previewed on the LCD monitor,
the photographer does not have to repeat the customization process for every
image.
Much-anticipated
JPEG image adjustment offers post-shooting finishing-touch control of JPEG images
Many digital camera users have long wished that they could adjust JPEG images in the same way they can with RAW images. Their wishes finally come true with the K20D. While viewing a recorded image on the LCD monitor, you can retouch it to your preferences by adjusting finishing-touch settings. When the desired finishing touch is obtained, simply press the camera’s Fn button, and the retouched JPEG image is stored in the camera. Thanks to this innovative, highly anticipated function, recorded JPEG images can now be retouched and preserved as far more satisfying artworks. *
* JPEG images can be retouched only when they are processed immediately after shooting.
