Setup and Operation
Which cameras are supported by GR WORLD?
This app supports the following cameras:
• GR IV
• GR IV HDF
• GR IV Monochrome
• GR III
• GR III HDF
• GR IIIx
• GR IIIx HDF
• GR II
What languages does GR WORLD support?
GR WORLD supports the following seven languages:
• Japanese
• English
• French
• German
• Korean
• Chinese (Traditional)
• Chinese (Simplified)
GR WORLD follows your smartphone’s language settings.
If the selected language is not supported, English will be used.
How can the language be changed in GR WORLD?
GR WORLD follows your smartphone’s language settings.
If the selected language is not supported, English is used.
You can also change the language in GR WORLD using the steps below.
iPhone
If multiple languages are set on your smartphone, select GR WORLD from Settings → Apps to set the Preferred language.
Check the language you want to display.
Android
Go to Settings → Apps and select GR WORLD to set the language.

Note: The steps may vary slightly depending on your smartphone model and OS version.
The app is displayed in a different language than the smartphone. What should be done?
If multiple languages are set on your smartphone, the app may be displayed in an unintended language.
In that case, please set the language for GR WORLD using the method below.
iPhone
If multiple languages are set on your smartphone, select GR WORLD from Settings → Apps to set the Preferred language.
Check the language you want to display.

Why is it necessary to select a country or region?
This is because available app features and services vary depending on the selected country or region.
What does the statement “Available app features and services vary depending on the selected country or region” mean?
In GR WORLD version 1.2.0, firmware updates, notifications, and the GR Gallery may not be available in some countries or regions.
Can the selected country or region be changed later?
The selected country or region cannot be changed later. To change the country or region, the app must be reinstalled.
If “Photos” is tapped during the initial setup before using the app and “Allow Full Access” or “Allow All” is selected in the dialog, will all photos on the smartphone be visible in GR WORLD?
GR WORLD does not access all images stored on your smartphone.
Selecting “Allow Full Access” or “Allow All” for “Photos” is required only to display and manage GR images imported from the camera using GR WORLD and Image Sync (images taken with GR IV / GR III / GR IIIx / GR II).
GR WORLD does not access any data or images stored in folders on your smartphone that were saved by other methods.
[GR IV] An error occurred after pairing was allowed during the app setup. What should be done?
Pairing must also be allowed on the camera.
Tap [Execute Pairing] or press the [OK] button on the camera. After allowing pairing on the camera, the camera will be registered shortly.
[GR IV] When connecting a camera in the app, it is unclear whether to select “First time” or “Previously connected.”
First time:
Select this option if the smartphone and camera have not been paired via Bluetooth before. Select this option when connecting a new camera to the smartphone for the first time.
Previously connected:
Select this option if your smartphone has been paired with the camera via Bluetooth before.
If you are not sure which option to select, please check the following two points:
1. Display the list of paired devices in the camera’s Bluetooth settings and check that your smartphone is shown.
2. Open the Bluetooth settings screen on your smartphone and check that the camera’s device name appears in the list of paired devices.
If both 1 and 2 are displayed, select “Previously connected.”
If neither is displayed, select “First time.”
If only one of them is displayed, remove the pairing for the displayed device, then select “First time” and try again.
[GR III / GR IIIx] When connecting a camera in the app, it is unclear whether to select “First time” or “Previously connected.”
First time:
Select this option if the smartphone and camera have not been paired via Bluetooth before. Select this option when connecting a new camera to the smartphone for the first time.
Previously connected:
Select this option if your smartphone has been paired with the camera via Bluetooth before.
Note: When “First time” is selected, pairing must be performed on the camera.
When “Previously connected” is selected, pairing is not required as long as Bluetooth is enabled on the camera.
If you are not sure which option to select, please check the following two points:
1. Display the list of paired devices in the camera’s Bluetooth settings and check that your smartphone is shown.
2. Open the Bluetooth settings screen on your smartphone and check that the camera’s device name appears in the list of paired devices.
If both 1 and 2 are displayed, select “Previously connected.”
If neither is displayed, select “First time.”
If only one of them is displayed, remove the pairing for the displayed device, then select “First time” and try again.
[GR III / GR IIIx] If Image Sync is being used, which option should be selected: “First time” or “Previously connected”?
If the camera has been used with Image Sync via a Bluetooth connection, select “Previously connected.”
If the camera has only been used via a Wi-Fi connection and Bluetooth has never been used, select “First time.”
[GR IV] The camera is not found even after pressing the “Search for cameras” button. What should be done?
Please check whether pairing is being executed on the camera.

2. From the setup menu, select “Wireless Communication Settings” → “Operation Mode”, then choose “On.”
3. From the setup menu, select “Wireless Communication Settings” → “Pairing”, and execute pairing.
Please check that the required permissions for the app are enabled.

Open the Settings app, then go to Apps → GR WORLD, and set the following options:

Please check that location services are enabled on your smartphone.

[GR III / GR IIIx] The camera is not found even after pressing the “Search for cameras” button. What should be done?
Please check that Bluetooth is enabled on the camera.
Camera setup procedure:
1. Turn on the camera.
2. In the setup menu, go to “Bluetooth Settings” → “Operating Mode” and select either “Connect even when the power is off” or “Connect only when the power is on”.
Please check that pairing is being executed on the camera.

Note: Difference between “First time” and “Previously connected”
• “First time” requires pairing to be executed on the camera.
• “Previously connected” does not require pairing to be executed; it is sufficient if Bluetooth is enabled on the camera.
An authentication code is requested during pairing. What should be done?
Enter the authentication code displayed on the camera’s pairing screen into the app.
[GR IV] A confirmation is requested to verify that the authentication codes match during pairing. What should be done?
Confirm that the authentication code displayed on the camera’s pairing screen matches the code displayed on the smartphone. Then, follow the on-screen instructions on the smartphone to allow pairing, and press the “OK” button on the camera.
[GR IV] During pairing, a checkbox labeled “Allow access to contacts and call history” appears when confirming that the authentication codes match. Is it necessary to select it?
Selecting this checkbox is not required.
[GR IV] An authentication code does not appear during pairing, and an error occurs, so it is not possible to proceed. What should be done?
There may be previous pairing settings remaining on the smartphone and the camera. Perform 1 and 2 below to remove the pairing settings from both the smartphone and the camera, and then register the camera again.
1. In the camera’s wireless communication settings, display the list of paired devices. If this smartphone is listed, remove the pairing.
2. Open the Bluetooth settings screen on the smartphone. If the camera’s device name appears in the list of paired devices, remove the pairing.
Note: Depending on your smartphone model or OS version, the authentication code entry may not appear in the app. In some cases, a notification requesting the authentication code may be displayed in the smartphone’s notification area. If this happens, check the notification area.
[GR III / GR IIIx] An authentication code does not appear during pairing, and an error occurs, so it is not possible to proceed. What should be done?
There may be previous pairing settings remaining on the smartphone and the camera. Perform 1 and 2 below to remove the pairing settings from both the smartphone and the camera, and then register the camera again.
1. In the camera’s wireless communication settings, display the list of paired devices. If this smartphone is listed, remove the pairing.
2. Open the Bluetooth settings screen on the smartphone. If the camera’s device name appears in the list of paired devices, remove the pairing.
Note: Depending on your smartphone model or OS version, the authentication code entry may not appear in the app. In some cases, a notification requesting the authentication code may be displayed in the smartphone’s notification area. If this happens, check the notification area.
[GR III / GR IIIx] An error occurred after entering the authentication code displayed on the camera. What should be done?
Please check that the authentication code displayed on the camera matches the code entered in the app.
Also, check whether the camera’s firmware version is compatible with GR WORLD.
Please note that cameras with older firmware versions cannot be connected, which will result in an error.
• GR III / GR III HDF: Version 2.00 or later
• GR IIIx / GR IIIx HDF: Version 1.50 or later
The camera’s firmware version can be checked in the Setup menu under “Version Information”.
[GR IV] When should “Previously connected” be selected?
Select “Previously connected” if the camera was previously registered in GR WORLD but was removed, or if the app was uninstalled.
If not sure, please check the following two items.
1. Display the list of paired devices in the camera’s wireless communication settings and confirm that your smartphone is listed.
2. Open the Bluetooth settings screen on the smartphone and confirm that the camera’s device name is listed in the paired devices list.
If both are listed, select “Previously connected.”
[GR III / GR IIIx] When should “Previously connected” be selected?
If the smartphone and camera have been paired before, the previous pairing settings remain on both devices, allowing them to reconnect automatically using those settings.
• Select “Previously connected” if the camera has been used with Image Sync via a Bluetooth connection.
• Select “Previously connected” if the camera was previously registered in GR WORLD but removed, or if the app was uninstalled.
• If not sure, please check the following two items.
1. Display the list of paired devices in the camera’s Bluetooth settings and confirm that your smartphone is listed.
2. Open the Bluetooth settings screen on the smartphone and confirm that the camera’s device name is listed in the paired devices list.
If both are displayed, select “Previously connected”.
[GR IV] An authentication code does not appear during pairing, and an error occurs. What should be done?
One of the following conditions may apply:
• The camera is in pairing mode.

[GR IV] The confirmation to verify that the authentication codes match did not appear during pairing, but the camera was registered successfully. Is the pairing completed correctly?
If the smartphone and camera have been paired before, the previous pairing settings remain on both devices and are used to reconnect. In this case, confirmation of matching authentication codes is not required.
[GR III / GR IIIx] The confirmation to verify that the authentication codes match did not appear during pairing, but the camera was registered successfully. Is the pairing completed correctly?
If the smartphone and camera have been paired before, the previous pairing settings remain on both devices and are used to reconnect. In this case, confirmation of matching authentication codes is not required.
[GR III / GR IIIx] On an Android device, a checkbox labeled “Allow access to contacts and call history” appeared when entering the authentication code during pairing. Is it necessary to select this checkbox?
No, selecting “Allow access to contacts and call history” is not required.
[GR II] The camera’s SSID does not appear. What should be done?
Connect to the camera’s Wi-Fi network from the smartphone’s Wi-Fi settings.
After the connection is complete, return to the app and continue the operation.
Note: The steps may vary slightly depending on your smartphone model and OS version.
For iOS:
Open the Settings app, go to Wi-Fi, select the camera’s SSID, and enter the password to connect.
After the connection is complete, return to the app and continue the operation.
For Android:
Open the Settings app, go to Network & Internet → Internet, select the camera’s SSID, and enter the password to connect to Wi-Fi.
Once the connection is complete, return to the app and continue.
Note: On Android devices, tapping “Go to Wi-Fi settings” in the app opens the smartphone’s Wi-Fi settings screen.
[GR II] Where can the camera’s SSID and password be found?
You can check the SSID and password in the camera’s Setup menu under “Wi-Fi Information.”
[GR II] After selecting the camera’s SSID, a message saying “This network has no Internet access. Do you want to stay connected?” appears. What should be done?
This message may appear when the camera and the smartphone are connected via Wi-Fi. Because the camera is not connected to the Internet, the smartphone is asking whether to keep the Wi-Fi connection to the camera.
For the app to communicate with the camera, the Wi-Fi connection must be maintained.
Therefore, when this message appears, select “Yes.”
[GR II] After selecting the camera’s SSID, an error message saying “Failed to establish a wireless LAN connection with the camera.” appears. What should be done?
A notification saying “This network has no Internet access. Do you want to stay connected?” may appear in the smartphone’s notification area. Please check the notification area.
This message may appear when the camera and the smartphone are connected via Wi-Fi. Because the camera is not connected to the Internet, the smartphone is asking whether to keep the Wi-Fi connection to the camera.
For the app to communicate with the camera, the Wi-Fi connection must be maintained.
Therefore, when this message appears, select “Yes.”
Also check that the GR II camera’s firmware version is supported by GR WORLD (version 1.10 or later).
Please note that cameras with older firmware versions cannot be connected and will result in an error.
[GR IV] After tapping the image import button, “Connecting via wireless LAN” is displayed, but then an error saying “Failed to establish a Bluetooth connection with the camera.” appears. What should be done?
Check that wireless communication is enabled on the camera, and then try again.

[Android] After tapping the image import button, a message saying “The GR WORLD app will temporarily use the Wi-Fi network to connect to the device” appears. What should be done?
This message appears when the smartphone asks whether it can continue using the Wi-Fi connection to the camera. To allow the app to communicate with the camera, select “Connect.”
[iOS] After tapping the image import button, “Connecting via wireless LAN” is displayed, and then a message saying “GR WORLD is trying to connect to a Wi-Fi network. Is this OK?” appears. What should be done?
This message appears when the smartphone asks whether to continue using the Wi-Fi connection to the camera. To communicate with the camera, select “Connect.”
[iOS] After tapping the image import button, “Connecting via wireless LAN” is displayed, and then the message “Allow GR WORLD to find devices on the local network?” appears. What should be done?
To connect to the camera and perform image import and other operations, the app must be allowed to access devices on the local network. Therefore, select “Allow.”
Note: Immediately after changing the local network settings, the connection may not be established right away. In this case, restart the smartphone to apply the settings, then try connecting again.
Also check the following:
Open the Settings app, go to Apps → GR WORLD, and confirm that “Local Network” is turned On.
After tapping the image import button, “Connecting via wireless LAN” is displayed, but then the error “Failed to establish a wireless LAN connection with the camera.” appears. What should be done?
Check that the required permissions have been granted.
Note: The steps may vary slightly depending on your smartphone model and OS version.
For iOS:
Open the Settings app, go to GR WORLD, and confirm that “Local Network” is turned On.
If this setting is turned off, a wireless LAN connection to the camera cannot be established.
Note: After changing the local network settings, the connection may not be established immediately. In this case, restart the smartphone to apply the settings, and then try connecting again.
For Android:
A notification saying “The GR WORLD app will temporarily use the Wi-Fi network to connect to the device” may appear in the smartphone’s notification area.
Please check the notification area.
• The camera may be set to video recording mode.
When the camera is in video recording mode, the wireless LAN function cannot be used.
Switch the camera to still image mode or playback mode, then try again.
• The camera may be connected to a computer via USB.
When the camera is connected to a computer via USB, the wireless LAN function cannot be used.
Disconnect the USB cable and try again.
• If security apps, communication control apps, or ad-blocking apps are installed, a wireless LAN connection to the camera may not be established. Temporarily disable or uninstall these apps, then try again.
• Check whether a VPN connection is enabled in your smartphone settings.

Open the Settings app, go to Network & Internet, and select VPN.
iOS:
Open the Settings app, go to General, and select VPN & Device Management.
• If the camera cannot be connected even after retrying, perform “Reconnect Settings” from the camera settings.
“Reconnect Settings” is used to re-establish the connection when a camera registered on the Home screen can no longer be connected.
Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect to the camera.
• If the issue is not resolved by the steps above, please try the following.
– Turn off Wi-Fi in the smartphone’s Wi-Fi settings, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
– Power off the smartphone completely, then restart it.
– If the camera is registered under My Networks / Previously connected networks / Saved networks (*) in the smartphone’s Wi-Fi settings, delete that network.
Note (Reference):
On an iPhone 12 (iOS 18.5), when you open the Wi Fi settings screen by going to Settings → Wi Fi, an “Edit” button appears in the upper right corner.
Tap “Edit” to view the list of previously connected networks.
Note:
On a Google Pixel 7 (Android 16), open Settings → Network & Internet → Internet.
Scroll down and tap Saved networks to view the list.
The camera was previously connected successfully, but suddenly can no longer be connected. What should be done?
Select “Reconnect Settings” from the camera settings.
“Reconnect Settings” is used to re-establish the connection with a camera registered on the Home screen when the connection cannot be established.
Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect.
Images marked for transfer on the camera are not imported into the app. What should be done?
Images marked for transfer on the camera are imported when you tap the image import button on the app’s Home screen and open the camera image screen.
Therefore, return to the Home screen once, then open the camera image screen again.
Can the camera’s SSID and password be changed from the app?
Yes.
Go to “Wireless LAN Communication Settings” in the camera settings, edit the SSID or password, and tap “Change” to apply the changes to the camera.
Can the camera’s date and time be set from the app?
Yes.
Go to “Date/Time Sync” in the camera settings, and tap “Sync Now” to apply the smartphone’s date and time to the camera.
Note: When “Auto Sync” is enabled, the camera’s date and time are automatically synchronized with the smartphone whenever the app connects to the camera.
What is “Location Information Recording”?
When “Location Information Recording” is turned on, the app sends the smartphone’s location information to the camera, and the information is automatically recorded in the images you capture.
What is “Auto Resize”?
When “Auto Resize” is turned on, images selected for transfer on the camera are automatically resized to XS size before being transferred.
What is “Reconnect Settings”?
“Reconnect Settings” is used to re-establish the connection with a camera registered on the Home screen when the connection can no longer be established.
Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect to the camera.
[GR IV] What is “Communication Bandwidth” in “Wireless LAN Communication Settings”?
“Communication Bandwidth” lets you select the wireless LAN frequency band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz).
Note: The 2.4 GHz band offers longer range and better penetration through walls, but may suffer from more interference and lower speeds.
The 5 GHz band offers higher speeds and less interference, but has a shorter range.
Note: The “Communication Bandwidth” setting is not supported on GR III, GR IIIx, or GR II.
[GR IV] What is “Security Method” in “Wireless LAN Communication Settings”?
“Security Method” is the setting used to select the encryption method that protects wireless LAN communication.
Note: WPA2 is widely supported by smartphones.
WPA3 is newer and more secure but may not be supported on older devices.
WPA2/WPA3 Transition Mode supports both and switches automatically based on the smartphone.
Note: The “Security Method” setting is not supported on GR III, GR IIIx, or GR II.
Frequently Asked Questions about Firmware Updates
[GR IV] How can the camera firmware be updated from the app?
To update the camera firmware from the app, follow the steps below.
1. Launch the app and connect to the camera via Bluetooth.
2. If a “New firmware is available.” message appears on the Home screen, tap “Check now.”
3. Tap “Update now.”
The camera firmware can also be updated from the camera settings by going to “Firmware” and tapping “Check for the latest firmware.”
Note: GR III, GR IIIx, and GR II do not support firmware updates from the app.

[GR IV] Can all GR series cameras be updated with firmware from the app?
No. Only the GR IV supports firmware updates from the app.
GR III, GR IIIx, and GR II do not support firmware updates from the app.
Note: GR WORLD does not support the GR or GR Digital I–IV models.
[GR IV] What happens if the connection is lost or an error occurs during a firmware update?
If an error appears in the app while the firmware is being downloaded, wait for the camera to display an error message, then try the update again.
Note: If a wireless LAN connection is established but the firmware update data transfer has not yet completed, there may be a waiting time of up to 3–4 minutes.
If a wireless LAN disconnection is detected or an error occurs on the camera, an error message will be displayed immediately.
[GR IV] Can the firmware be rolled back to a previous version after an update?
No. The firmware cannot be rolled back to a previous version.

Frequently Asked Questions about Notifications in App Settings
What are “Notifications”?
Notifications deliver the latest information, such as new camera firmware releases or app updates. Please check “Notifications” in App Settings.
