I encountered this small landscape at my feet during autumn in the Norikura highlands. Blooming now complete, the styles were extending from the chinguruma in preparation for carrying the seeds. When the wind blows they will fly away so a new generation can flourish.
This small world of alpine plants seems to form a miniature forest. The chinguruma styles look like palm trees. I have to wonder if there are not little people enjoying fall foliage photography in this forest. Such thoughts bring their own delight.(Judge:Kazuyuki Okajima)
The vivid flower and plant colors present a memorable contrast. There is a density to the image as a whole and we can tell that consideration was given to the angle of view so that there would not be any superfluous space. I think that it is this density that gives rise to a very sumptuous image.(Judge:Ryo Ohwada)
