Radiant
Produces lively, color-rich images close to memory colors.
In order to give the most appropriate finishing touch to each image, the PENTAX Q comes equipped with 11 custom images and 19 digital filters. By coupling them with the four aspect-ratio options (1:1, 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9) and the HDR mode that completely eliminates over-and underexposed areas, you can create a wide range of visual expressions, without the need of a PC and image-editing software.

1. Brilliant Color
Creates a lively atmosphere by raising the saturation level almost to full color saturation.
The PENTAX Q provides nine Smart Effect modes to assure greater freedom of photographic creativity. You can even assign your favorite Smart Effect mode to the Quick Dial on the camera's front panel for instant recall.
With the PENTAX Q, it's easy to throw a background out of focus to make the subject stand out, whether it's a person, animal or flower. Simply set the mode dial to the BC (Bokeh Control) position and shoot the image; the camera automatically takes several crucial factors, such as in-focus point and distance to the subject, into calculation to produce beautiful images with a smooth out-of-focus finish.
In addition to the standard 4:3 ratio, the PENTAX Q provides three other aspect ratios, so you can assign the proportions best suited to a particular image: the HDTV-standard 16:9 ratio for a dynamic, sweeping view; the square 1:1 ratio for a composed, orderly appearance; and the 3:2 ratio for a familiar 35mm-film look.
The PENTAX Q's user-friendly Auto Picture mode automatically selects the most appropriate shooting mode for a given subject or scene. A total of 21 different scene modes - ranging from conventional Surf & Snow and Pet to the newly added Night Snap, Forest and Quick Macro - enables a more scene-specific choice of the shooting mode.
- This creative mode takes three images of the same subject at varying exposures and synthesizes them into a single photo free of washed-out (overexposed) and pitch-black (underexposed) areas. You can obtain different results by choosing one of three settings: Auto, Type 1 and Type 2. Since the camera has an automatic alignment compensation function, you can use this mode even during handheld shooting. You can also take advantage of it during high-sensitivity shooting to produce noise-free images.
- The PENTAX Q's remarkable imaging tools are also available during Full HD movie recording. You can take advantage of such creative tools as the Smart Effect modes, or swiftly change lenses to create different perspectives. Movie clips are recorded in the H.264 file format, while the recording format can be selected from Full HD, HD and VGA. The PENTAX Q even offers in-camera movie-editing functions.
