01 USER mode for instant recall of desired functions

You can register up to five different combinations in the USER mode, while assigning a set of theme-oriented camera functions — such as the shooting mode, exposure mode and Custom Image mode — to each combination. This saves the time and trouble of resetting the camera before every shooting session.

RAW/Fx button

Positioned for easy access with the left thumb, this button can be used for temporary switching of a recording format, or for one-push recall of a frequently used function such as auto bracketing and digital level.

02 Button/dial customization to fine-tune the K-5 II

You can assign desired functions to various controls positioned around the camera body — including the front/rear e-dials, AF button, RAW/Fx button and preview lever — to meet your preferences. The customization process is simple and effortless, as you can select desired functions and confirm them at a glance on the on-screen menus.

03 O-GPS 1 GPS Unit (optional accessory)for active outdoor shooting and easy image file management

By mounting the O-GPS1 GPS unit onto the K-5 II’s hotshoe, you can record the latitude, longitude and altitude of a shooting location, universal time, and the camera’s precise direction on a captured image. You can even check position data and create image maps on your computer.

O-GPS1
  • Electoric Compass

This function records the camera's precise direction in relation to true north. Coupled with the location data, you can check the exact location of shooting and the exact direction the camera was pointed at the time of shooting.

  • Simple Navigation

This function displays the direction and distance from the current position to a given destination. Useful in finding scouted shooting spots or revisiting previous shooting locations.

Astrotracer

Coupled with the camera’s SR mechanism, this function simplifies the tracing and photographing of celestial bodies. Since the SR unit automatically rotates in synchronization with the movement of celestial bodies during extended exposures, it records all celestial bodies as solid points rather than blurry streaks, without requiring an equatorial telescope.

Other functions

Extended-exposure NR (Noise Reduction), with a choice of Auto, On and Off settings

Expanded bracketing to automatically capture an image with three different finishing touches (a set of three images recorded and saved with a single shutter release)

Exposure compensation (±5 EV) to capture high- and low-key images

Auto bracketing (2, 3 or 5 images selectable) to capture the subject at different exposure levels (with a one-push bracketing mode to take all the images with a single shutter release)

Built-in auto flash (manual pop-up type), with a guide number of approximately 13 (at ISO 100/m), a flash synchronization speed of 1/180 second, a discharge angle covering a 28mm lens (in the 35m format) and a discharge level control function

Status Screen to display a list of all shooting functions

Control panel to allow intuitive setting of shooting functions

Recording of copyright information, to prevent unauthorized alternation and third-party use of recorded images
