Digital SLR Cameras: K200D

Camera-installed SR system with four-shutter-step compensation opens up new creative possibilities in handheld shooting
When you want to take a natural, unposed image of a child, the best solution is to use a telephoto lens and shoot the subject from a distance. Unfortunately, this technique is highly prone to camera shake, and usually demands the use of a tripod to stabilize the camera. Since PENTAX has successfully integrated a sophisticated SR system in a digital SLR camera body, you can hand-hold the K200D even in such demanding situations, thanks to its outstanding camera-shake compensation effect equivalent to approximately 2.5 to four shutter steps.* This built-in design means you can also hold the camera in your hand in other difficult applications prone to camera shake — such as when using a macro lens, or when snapping indoor or sunset scenes without the use of a flash to create a natural ambience with the incident light — and still capture sharp, crisp images.
* The degree of shake-reduction effect may vary, depending on the lens used and/or the photographic conditions.
Built-in SR system optimizes CCD performance and produces beautiful images in large prints
For the latest multi-megapixel image sensors, even the slightest level of camera shake can pose a serious problem, even though you may only notice it when making the image into a large-size print or magnifying it on the computer screen. The K200D’s SR system makes high-precision compensation for very minute camera shake to produce sharp, crisp images. Since the entire system is installed within the camera body, it works superbly with almost any smc PENTAX interchangeable lens that can be mounted on the K200D camera body. What’s more, since this unique in-body design also eliminates the need for a shake-reduction device in a lens body, PENTAX has been able to optimize lens design solely for the pursuit of the superior optical performance required by top-grade digital SLR photography.
Upgraded SR system offers better response and greater reliability
The K200D’s SR system employs the PENTAX-developed image-sensor-shift mechanism. As the incoming light forms an image on the CCD image sensor, the SR system cancels any camera shake by shifting the image sensor vertically and horizontally at high speed, based on the amount and direction of camera shake detected by the gyro sensor. As a result, a sharp, crisp image is formed on the image sensor, even when the camera body is still shaking.
