• *b1) It will reduce noise at high ISO sensitivity. By Pixel output interpolation algorithm, it will be able to provide dynamic range expansion (1 EV at maximum; in comparison with the previous image processing)
• *b2) Multi-trgt AF: Camera automatically determines multiple focus positions and takes consecutive pictures at one shutter release(5 frames at once). These multiple frames are recorded as a single MP file.

• *b3) Pre-AF: The camera will do preliminaries on focus, corresponding with changes on the subject, even if you will not yet press the shutter release half way.

• *b4) Subject Tracking AF: The camera will track the subject while the shutter release button is pressed halfway. You can take a picture in focus by pressing the shutter release button all the way.
• *b5) Miniaturize: This mode captures an image that appear to be a picture of dioramas.

• *b6) High Contrast B&W Mode: This mode takes a picture with higher contrast B&W than those in normal B&W mode. It will produces grainy images similar to those taken with highly sensitive film or high grain film developing.

• *b7) Soft Focus: This mode takes a picture with soft focus effects similar to those created by soft focus lenses. The amount of softening option is available.

• *b8) Cross Process: This mode takes a picture with colors that differ markedly from those of the actual subject. The colors can be selected using the [Hue] option.

• *b9) Toy Camera: This mode takes a picture with high contrast, saturated colors associated with toy cameras. The created picture has effects of distortion, vignetting (captured with darkness in the four corners). The amount of vignetting, and amount of toy color effect is selectable.

• *b10) Night Landscape Multi-shot: Use for night scenes. Blur caused by camera shake is reduced even in handheld shots. Since this mode takes 4 pictures continuously and then combines to create a single image, shooting and recording time is longer than other modes.

• *b11) Discreet Mode: Regardless of the sound setting, the camera will take a picture with disabled Flash and operating sound.

• *b12) Pet mode: The flash, AF auxiliary light, and operation sounds are turned off in this mode, to avoid frightening a pet. If a face(s) of pets is detected, the camera will be going to focus on the face(s).

• *b14) Cooking : This will be useful when taking a picture of food or cooking. Macro mode is automatically selected. Brightness and color are adjustable in the screen.

• *b15) Golf Swing Continuous Mode : This mode is useful for checking golf swing. The grid line is displayed when shooting and for playback.

• *b16) The camera will automatically select an optimal scene mode from Portrait, Sports, Night. Port., Landscape, Nightscape, and Macro mode.

• *b18) fps stands for frames per second. It is 30 frames with the CX5/CX3. With the CX2, you have options of 30 fps or 15 fps in each size.
• *b19) Camera takes multiple pictures continuously while you are pressing a shutter release button. The maximum number of images that can be shot in continuous mode is 999.

• *c1) You can set useful images to Flag function. This will allow the Fn button to display an assigned image quickly.

[Other features of camera]

• *d1) Fluorinated is for soil-release finishing.
• *d2) After the elapse of time set, the picture display shows 'sleeping...' message and turns into sleep mode. Selectable options are 10 sec., 1 min., 3 min. With Sleep mode is set, [LCD Auto Dim] option is not available.
• *d3) The shooting information is not displayed over the subject, you can more easily compose your shot.
• *d4) It shows the minimum shooting distance in zooming.
• *d5) You can switch several features with the Fn button.

[PC connections / software]

When you connect the camera to a computer:

• • Only the USB connection is available. Serial connection is not supported.
• • It is required a computer that is pre-installed with a supported OS version in the following chart, and that has a USB port as standard.
• • For downloading pictures to a computer, supplied software is for Windows only. For Macintosh, no software from Ricoh is required to download pictures. See the FAQ here for the details.
• • The following is the mass storage compatibility chart for each operating system.

Supplied software and information is stored in the internal memory in the camera. There is no CD-ROM disc in the package. Chart below shows the compatibility on the supplied software for the CX5.
