Digital Compact Camera: Optio Z10

The Optio Z10 combines 8.0 effective megapixels with a 7X optical zoom lens that
has no lens extension during zooming. This powerful zoom lens allows you to zoom
in more closely on your subject and preserve the most decisive moments in greater
detail. Thanks to PENTAX's high-performance optical design, it also assures outstanding
image quality.

The PENTAX-developed Intelligent Zoom is a step above conventional digital zoom functions. It lets you digitally magnify the subject up to approximately 35.7 times to produce high-quality images as good as those produced by an optical zoom lens.

In
just 0.03 seconds, the Optio Z10 detects up to 15 faces across the image field,
then optimizes focus and exposure to produce beautiful images. Since every face
is captured cheerfully and attractively, it is ideal for all types of group gatherings,
including sport events and holiday parties.

to Push Sensitivity up to ISO 3200 at Night and in the Dark
The Optio Z10's Digital SR (Shake Reduction) system comes handy for sunset and indoor scenes and at locations, such as museums, where the use of flash is prohibited. It effectively minimizes camera shake and subject shake by automatically raising the sensitivity up to ISO 3200 and setting a higher shutter speed.
for Blur-Free Movie Clips
The Optio Z10 is also equipped with the Movie SR (Shake Reduction) system. It effectively minimizes annoying camera shake in movie shooting, as you capture VGA-format movie clips (30 frames per second) at sizes up to 640 x 480 pixels. Coupled with the digital movie anti-shake function, it assures high-quality, blur-free movie clips in a wide variety of applications.

There
are occasions when you come across a breathtaking landscape, only to find out
that your camera is not quite equipped for such wide-angle applications. The
Optio Z10's creative Digital Wide mode solves this problem by composing a single,
horizontally extended image from two separate images. The overlapping areas of
the two original images are automatically aligned and compensated to assure a
proper exposure level, so the resulting image looks as natural as any original
image.
* Equivalent to a 28mm wide-angle coverage in terms of the 35mm film format.
Auto-Tracking AF
to Maintain Constant Focus on Active Subjects for Timely
Shutter Releases
Once the subject is captured in focus, the Optio Z10's auto-tracking AF mode keeps it in crisp focus, even when it moves around in the image field. By eliminating the need for frequent refocusing, this lets you effortlessly capture the decisive moment, even when the subject is an active child or unpredictable pet.
Mode Palettes
to Offer Instant Setting of Shooting and Playback Modes via
Simple Icon Selection

The Optio Z10 features a user-friendly shooting mode palette to simplify the troublesome mode-selection process. All you have to do to set the desired shooting mode is select the icon on the screen corresponding to your desired mode. The Optio Z10 takes care of the rest for you, producing beautiful images frame after frame.

The Optio Z10's playback mode palette offers a set of icons corresponding to the image-editing and photo-retouching functions available after shooting, including trimming and resizing tools and digital filters. This palette assures quick, effortless setting of the desired function to facilitate image-processing operations.
Digital Filters
to Add Artistic Touches
Because the Optio Z10 provides a set of digital filters including color, soft, fish-eye and brightness, you can effortlessly edit captured images to add creative and artistic touches — a fun, exciting feature available only to digital camera users.
Photo Frames
to Customize Images for Special Occasions
The Optio Z10 lets you create an eye-catching framed image with great ease, either by displaying your choice of frame on the screen during shooting or by adding the most fitting frame to a recorded image. You can also replace these frames by downloading new ones from the PENTAX Web site.
World-Time and Calendar Functions
for On-the-Road Convenience around the
Globe

The Optio Z10's built-in clock is a handy tool on your overseas trips, since it provides real-time display of standard time in 75 cities in 28 time zones around the world. You can even check the time difference between your home town and travel destination on the menu screen.

Since the Optio Z10's calendar function automatically files captured images into day-by-day folders, you can instantly recall the images recorded on a particular day by selecting that day on the calendar screen. This feature allows you to keep accurate track of a trip or past events.
When
connected to a PictBridge-compatible printer via the included USB cable, the
Optio Z10 offers convenient direct printing, eliminating the need to transfer
