[Question] Details on the TC-1, optional tele conversion lens for the GXR (S10).

It is TC-1, the tele conversion lens that you can use with the GXR with RICOH LENS S10 24-72mm F2.5-4.4 VC.
You can take a picture at the lens magnification of 1.88, equivalent to 135 mm at the tele end (in 35 mm filmcameras).

In order to use the TC-1, the HA-3 (optional, hood & adapter) is required. See the FAQ below about the HA-3, hood and adapter.

Mounting instructions and cautions are as follows.
 

 

Attaching the TC-1

1. Attach the camera unit (RICOH LENS S10 23-72mm F2.5-4.4 VC) to the GXR body.
See the FAQ below about how to attach them.

2. Remove the ring cap from the camera body.
Remove the ring cap (2) by turning the ring cap counterclockwise (1) while pressing the ring cap release button.

Turn the ring cap counterclockwise for removal.

[Note]
Keep the removed ring cap with care. For use, attach the ring cap to the camera body by aligning the markings, and then turn the ring cap clockwise to return it to its original position. The red mark in the figure above is a guide.

3. Attaching the adapter.
With the marking on the camera, fit the adapter into the camera body (1). Then turn the adapter clockwise until it clicks in position (2). The red mark in the figure below is a guide.

With the marking on the camera, fit the adapter into the camera body.

4. Attaching the tele conversion lens.
Screw the wide conversion lens clockwise into the adapter.

Screw the wide conversion lens into the adapter.
Check that the lens is secured in the adapter. If the lens is not attached appropriately, images may not be captured properly.
The hood can be extended for usage.

Caution on the usage of TC-1

  • ••Turn off the camera power for attachment or detachment.
  • •Do not apply force more than necessary for attachment or detachment, or the camera may be damaged.
  • •You cannot use a filter with the tele conversion lens.
  • •You cannot use the hood that came with the HA-3 adapter with the tele conversion lens.
  • •When using the tele conversion lens, you cannot use the flash built in the camera body.
  • •When using the tele conversion lens, set the lens to the tele end.
  • •Do not connect with any cameras other than specification.

Safety Precautions

[Warning] : Do not look at the sun directly through the lens, or you may lose your eyesight.

[Caution]

  • •Do not leave the lens or the lens-attached camera under direct sunlight.
  • •If sunlight is focused on a nearby item, a fire may occur. Store the product with lens cap or under no direct sunlight.

Handling Notes

  • •The shooting distance for the camera attached with this product are as follows: (tele end, from the front of the lens)
    Normal shooting : 1 meter to ∞ (infinity), Macro shooting : 0.05 meter to ∞ (infinity)
  • •This tele conversion lens has a built-in telescopic hood. The hood cannot be detached.
  • •This tele conversion lens can be used in combination with a commercially available filter. However, the hood may not be capable of extension when using certain types of filters.
  • •The lens cap cannot be attached when the hood is extended.
  • •If the tele conversion lens and an external viewfinder are used at the same time, the vignetting in the viewfinder will become greater.
  • •When the tele conversion lens (TC-1) is attached, hold the body of the camera, and do not hold it only at the lens portion.
  • •Do not directly touch the lens surface. Spots on the lens surface may affect the picture quality. To wipe off spots from the lens surface, use commercially available lens cleaner.
  • •When using the tele conversion lens, the AF auxiliary light will be shaded by the tele conversion lens.
  • •Be sure not to give it a shock, such as dropping it, or hitting it against hard items.
  • •In an environment where the temperature changes suddenly, condensation may occur in the product, resulting in troubles such as rust or molds. For lens care, take it out of the bag after the temperature difference from the atmosphere has decreased to a fairly small amount.
  • •Avoid high temperature or humidity, put in the product in the softcase that came with the product and store in a dry place.
