[Question] What is the Speed Cont?

Speed Cont allows you to record 120 consecutive images in approximately one second (Speed Cont (High)) or approximately 2 seconds (Speed Cont (Low)) from the moment that the shutter release button is pressed. The consecutively shot still images are grouped together as a set and are recorded as one MP file ^*1.

*1 : MP file (Multi-Picture file)

It is a file format that records multiple still images as one file. You can export specific frames from an MP file and save it as separate still images (JPEG files) in the camera.
[What is an MP file ?]

• •The time until image recording is complete may be longer when using the internal memory.
• •The flash cannot be used.
• •The camera shake correction function cannot be used in Continuous mode. If you turn the mode dial to Continuous mode while the camera shake correction function is enabled, the camera shake correction icon disappears from the picture display.
• •In Continuous mode, the focus, exposure value, and white balance are fixed.
• •When [Card Sequence No.] is set to [On] and the last four digits of the file number exceed "9999" during continuous shooting, a separate folder is created in the SD memory card and successive pictures taken in continuous mode are stored in this folder.
• •The image size is fixed at 4:3N (N640 x 480).
• •The date and level information of the last shot, when you released the shutter release button, are recorded to all frames.

Operating procedure

• 1Turn the mode dial to Continuous Mode.
  

  

• 2Press the [MENU] button to display the continuous mode selection screen.
  

  

• 3Press the [ADJ./OK] button to select [Speed Cont (Low)] or [Speed Cont (High)] , and then press the [ADJ./OK] button.
  

  
  

  • [Speed Cont (Low)] Continuously shoots 120 images in approximately 2 seconds.
  • [Speed Cont (High)] Continuously shoots 120 images in approximately 1 second.
  
  
• 4Compose your picture, and then press the shutter release button.
  

  

  • •120 consecutive images are taken automatically.
  • •If you release the shutter release button before recording of the 120 images is completed, the images are recorded as one MP file, from the time the shutter release button was pressed to the time it was released.

• •If you shoot a fast-moving subject, it may be distorted in the recorded image.
• •If you shoot under a fluorescent light, the flickering light may be recorded as a horizontal band.
