PENTAX K-01, Designed by Marc Newson

The PENTAX K-01 features a compact, mirrorless body with control dials and buttons laid out both functionally and methodically. The simple, trim design is accentuated with clean straight lines. Operational comfort is optimized by the use of high quality materials, such as aluminum alloy for dials, switches and flash housing, and textured rubber for the grip. Marc Newsonﾕs original design elements are evident in every detail, from the start-up screen to the product logo, camera strap, and even the product box.

Built into the body, the pop-up P-TTL flash has a guide number of 12 (ISO 100/m) and covers a discharge angle as wide as 28mm (in the 35mm format), while minimizing shadow vignetting caused by the lens

The refined straight lines of the K-01 distinguish this camera body while creating a clean and modern feel.

Sometimes called a “pancake lens,” this functional, high-performance lens is even thinner than existing PENTAX compact pancake lenses, measuring a mere 9.2mm in length. In fact, it is the worldﾕs thinnest* lens, exceptionally light, weighing just 52 grams. Marc Newson design elements are also infused into this gorgeous lens, making it a perfect match for the K-01 body. * The worldﾕs thinnest interchangeable lens for lens-interchangeable digital cameras, as of March 1, 2012 (based on PENTAXﾕs research).

Controls on the K-01 are laid out functionally and logically, for an intuitive, yet elegant and refined appearance.

The K-01 features a large, easy-to-view, high-resolution 3.0 inch LCD monitor with approximately 921,000 dots. The LCDﾕs brightness and color are easily adjustable. It is also wide angle viewable, ensuring a clear view of the monitor from approximately 170 degrees horizontally and vertically to facilitate low and high angle shooting.

PENTAX K-mount Lenses

The K-01 is fully compatible with all PENTAX K-mount interchangeable lenses manufactured over several decades. These include fish-eye lenses for an ultra-wide field of view with creative perspective; macro lenses for extremely detailed shots of even the smallest subjects; high grade limited-series fixed prime lenses; and exclusively designed, high grade DA Star-series lenses. This unprecedented level of lens interchangeability means endless creative options when shooting. The advanced sensor-shift SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism is incorporated into the camera body to minimize annoying blur due to camera shake, regardless of the lens being used.
