Digital Compact Camera: Optio M50

optio M50
5X Optical Zoom Lens to Capture Large, Beautiful Images

Despite its super-compact, ultra-slim body, the Optio M50 features a high-power 5X optical zoom lens to zoom in on the subject. When combined with its digital zoom capability, it offers an astonishing 25.5X zoom range, making it possible to capture large, exciting images of distant subjects with great ease. In addition, since its LCD monitor features a wide-view IPS panel, you can review captured images clearly from many different angles — a convenient feature for group and family viewing.

Advanced Natural Skin Mode with a New Smile Capture Function

The Optio M50 features the upgraded Face-Recognition AF & AE function. Coupled with the Natural Skin shooting mode, it automatically captures as many as 15 faces across the image field sharply and beautifully. It also features the new Smile Capture function, which automatically releases the shutter the instant it detects your subject’s smile. Since both the Face-Recognition and Smile Capture functions can be activated or turned off with a single push-button action, you can very easily preserve sparkling smiles.

Super-High ISO 6400 Sensitivity to Minimize Camera Shake and Subject Shake

When shooting under low-lighting conditions, take advantage of the Optio M50’s Digital SR (Shake Reduction) system, which automatically raises the sensitivity level as high as ISO 6400 for a higher shutter speed. This takes away all worries in demanding shooting conditions prone to camera shake and subject shake — such as sunset and indoor scenes — and captures images exactly the way you want them.

Automatic Switching to the Macro Mode for Close-Range Subjects

Automatic Switching to the Macro Mode for Close-Range SubjectsThe Optio M50 automatically measures the distance to the subject, and switches its autofocus system to the macro mode when it detects a subject at a close distance. This saves you from troublesome mode-switching operations, and allows you to capture well-defined, close-up images instantly and effortlessly.

Digital Wide Mode
to Composite One Spectacular Scene from Two Images

The Optio M50’s Digital Wide mode lets you effortlessly preserve a breathtaking landscape or extra-wide subject in a single image. Simply take a pair of vertical images by following the camera’s instructions, and the Optio M50 automatically composites them into a single image, which appears so natural and seamless to everyone’s eye.
