Troubleshooting / Failure diagnosis

[Symptom]

  • A picture is too bright. / A picture is too dark.

[Solution]

Please follow the instructions below to find if there is something wrong with your camera.

In case a captured image is too bright:

[For all models]
  • It may be overexposure in a setting. If the exposure compensation is configured to plus [+], change the setting to [0.0].
  • It may be set a long exposure time (Time exposure). Test after changing the Time exposure OFF.
  • Amount of light may not be appropriate. If you use a flash, adjust a light amount to a subject such as ;
    • walk away from a subject
    • turn a flash OFF and then contrive ways to make the subject more in other light.
  • Check if the brightness of the LCD is appropriate.
  • Check if it is sure to focus on the subject before pressing the shutter release. With being out of focus, if you take a picture with a flash and the suject is so close, there may be a case that an image is too bright. Also see the topic below.

[For water-proof models]
  • Check to see if there is some dew condensation on the glass in front of the lens.

In case a captured image is too dark:

  • If you set [Flash OFF] in the flash mode, change it to other modes.
  • It may be underexposure in a setting. If the exposure compensation is configured to minus [-], change the setting to [0.0].
  • It may be out of the range that a flash light reaches. Consult your operating manual for the flash range.
