RICOH COMPANY, LTD. will be holding the 11th RICOH PHOTO CONTEST (Application period: June 14, 2011 to August 31, 2001) under the theme of “Radiance” for photographs taken with a Ricoh compact digital camera.

The RICOH PHOTO CONTEST, now in its 11th year, is a photo contest first held in June 2004 that developed from the Candid Photo cultural concept of “walking around with your camera in a light-hearted way, shooting photographs in a light-hearted way, and valuing and enjoying the photographs” proposed by Ricoh as a way to encourage communication with people from different walks of life who enjoy taking pictures and would like to participate in such a contest to become even more familiar with photography.

We are soliciting submissions created around the theme of “Radiance” based on an unrestricted sensibility. We are looking forward to receiving lots of different photographs covering a wide variety of subjects taken from a new perspective.

We have chosen Mr. Kisei Kobayashi and Mr. Yukio Uchida (in alphabetical order), two professional photographers working at the forefront of the photography industry, to serve as the judges who will select the prize-winning entries.

Submissions will be accepted through the RICOH website. We are planning to select a total of 50 different entries as prize winners including for the Grand Prize and will announce the winners through the RICOH website, as well (tentatively, in early November).

We are planning to exhibit the winning entries as full-sized prints (457 mm×560 mm) at a photo gallery exhibition. We will also select 13 of the winning entries for use in our 2012 RICOH PHOTO CALENDAR, one for each of the 12 months of the year and one for the cover.

We hope to receive submissions not only from photographers within Japan but also from all around the world who are looking for an opportunity to learn more about how to enjoy taking photographs and discover new things through this RICOH PHOTO CONTEST.
