"GR Digital II" is selected as the JIDA Design Museum Selection

The GR Digital II compact digital camera made by Ricoh was picked for the Design Museum Selection of the Japan Industrial Designers' Association (JIDA).

Established in 1952, JIDA is the only national organization for industrial designers in Japan. Their Design Museum Selection is a collection of products that best represent the times. They are carefully selected by their Museum Committee in order to preserve highly creative and practical products for the future. In this tenth year of the Design Museum Selection, 41 products from 33 companies were selected, bringing the total number of products in the collection since 1998 to 217.

The GR Digital II is a compact digital camera that carries on the concepts of the GR Series of compact digital cameras that were readily recognized for their high picture quality after the initial launch in 1996. A reproduction performance that satisfied even professional users is condensed into its compact thin body of 25 mm in thickness. Since going on the market in November 2007, it has been popular with a wide range of customers from professional photographers to high-end amateurs.

Positively evaluated for its performance and a sleek traditional camera design that is never tiring, the GR Digital II is the first Ricoh product to make the JIDA Design Museum Selection. The GR Digital II will be housed and exhibited as part of the permanent collection of the JIDA Design Museum in Shinshu Shinmachi, Nagano, as well as a planned part of the traveling exhibit that serves to introduce Japanese design across the country and abroad.
