This is a work that leaves the viewer very uneasy. What is on the other side of the window? Who is that person speaking with? There ought to be a reason for this. . The burning fire expresses both the presence and the absence of its tender. An "incident" has definitely been photographed here.(Kisei Kobayashi)
It's probably an overstatment, but there is pleasure similar to that of viewing a Vermeer painting in the fact of finding in this photo the beauty in the midst of work falls into the category of the everyday or the odd job. I do not know how much the photo may have been adjusted, but the balance of light and shadow and the shot layout is fantastic.(Yukio Uchida)
