A Program/aperture priority AE model which used a built-in motor to feed the film. In addition to the date recording mechanism, automatic setting of film sensitivity with the "DX code" became possible. Incorporating a winder made possible to continuously wind the film by 1.5 frames per second. The "PENTAX A3 Date Limited," an olive color version of this model was available in the lineup.
