[Question] About the S mode (S: Shutter Priority mode) (S10).

Turning the mode dial to [S] (Shutter Speed Priority mode) allows you to adjust shutter speed manually. When you set the shutter speed, the camera automatically selects the appropriate aperture value for that speed.
Available shutter speeds vary depending on attached camera unit.

Making the shutter speed faster will capture a moment like having the fast-moving subject stop. Or making the shutter speed slower will capture a trail of the moving subject, which will be able to create the scene in fluid motion.

Operating procedure

The procedures for shooting with shutter speed priority are shown below.

1. While pressing the mode dial lock release button, turn the mode dial to [S].

2. Turn the Up-down dial to change the shutter speed.

The selected mode symbol will be displayed in the picture display, the current shutter speed will be shown in orange.

3. Press the shutter release button halfway. The aperture is selected and displayed on the screen.

4. Gently press the shutter release button the rest of the way down to shoot.

If the shutter speed is set longer, the aperture value will not become the minimum (open aperture), even if the subject is too dark.

  • In the [S] mode, the available shutter speed with the RICOH LENS S10 24-72mm F2.5-4.4 VC camera unit will be; 1/2000 ~ 1 seconds.
