[Question] How to playback pictures/movies from the GXR on a television:

Pictures/Movies from the GXR can be played back on a TV using the AV cable that is supplied with the GXR body.

* In order to view them on the HD TV screen, a commercially available HDMI mini cable is required.

Below is procedures for using the supplied AV cable.

Securely connect the AV cable to the video/audio input terminals on the television.
  Securely connect the AV cable to the video/audio input terminals on the television.
  • • Connect the white plug of the AV cable to the audio input terminal (white) of the TV, and connect the yellow plug of the AV cable to the video input terminal (yellow) of the TV.

Confirm that the power of the GXR body is off.

Open the connector cover and securely connect the AV cable to the AV output terminal. (The AV output terminal is the round terminal in the middle.)
  Securely connect the AV cable to the AV output of the camera.

4   Set the television to Video Mode (set the input to Video).
• Consult the manual of the television for the details.

5   Slide the power switch to On. Or press and hold the playback button Playback button of the GXR body to turn it on.
  Press and hold the playback button of the camera to turn on the camera.

[Caution]

    • When the AV cable is connected, the camera picture display and the speaker output turn off.
    • Use care when connecting the AV cable into the terminal.
    • Do not use excessive force while the AV cable is connected.
    • While the camera is connected with the AV cable be sure not to use the AV cable alone to move the camera.

[How to view them in an HD TV]

    • The GXR can be connected to the television that supports HDMI using an HDMI mini cable that is commercially available in the market. See the manual of the HD TV for details.
    • Whenever connecting the GXR, be sure to confirm the power is off, open the connector cover of the GXR body, and then connect an HDMI mini cable to the HDMI output terminal. The further operations are the same as the steps from [4] above.
    • If connecting or disconnecting the HDMI mini cable, the display switches to single-frame view. When the menu is displayed, it will not switch to single-frame view even if connecting or disconnecting the HDMI mini cable.
    • When the GXR body is connected to a TV using the HDMI cable, operation sounds turn off.
    • When images from the GXR with the sizes other than [16:9] aspect ratio are played back on an HD TV screen, some images may be displayed with black borders at the top and bottom sides, or left and right sides. Consult to the manual of the television for details.

[Memo]

    • There is an option available to record the captured contents in the camera simply by connecting the AV cable to the video input terminals of the video recorder.
    • The camera supports the following video standards: [NTSC], [PAL]. The default setting of the video mode varies depending on where you purchased the camera. Choose the appropriate video mode for your country before connecting the camera. The video mode is located in the Setup menu in the camera.
