[Question] How do I fix the focal length of the zoom at seven levels? (Step Zoom)

Step zooming allows you to set the focal length of the zoom so that it is fixed at seven levels (28, 35, 50, 85, 105, 135, 200 mm *1).
  • *1: Equivalent to that on 35 mm filmcameras
The procedures for setting step zoom are shown below.

  • 1Turn the mode dial to a shooting mode.

  • 2Press the [MENU] button. The shooting menu appears.

  • 3Press the [ADJ./OK] button Left, and then press Down. The setup menu appears.
  • 3 Press the [ADJ./OK] button to the left, and then press it down. The setup menu appears.

  • 4Press the [ADJ./OK] buttonRight and Down to select [Step Zoom], and then press the [ADJ./OK] button Right.
  • 4 Press the [ADJ./OK] button to the right to select [Step Zoom], and then press the [ADJ./OK] button again to the right.
  • Press the [ADJ./OK] button Up Down to select [On], and then press the [ADJ./OK] button to confirm the setting.

  • 5The display returns to the shooting screen.
    The default setting is [Off] (step zooming is not used).
  • In Macro mode, the step zoom focal lengths are roughly equivalent to 32, 35, 50, 85, 105, 135 and 200 mm on 35 mm filmcameras.
  • Assigning [Step Zoom] to the Fn (Function) button with [Set Fn Button] allows you to toggle the step zoom on and off by pressing the Fn button.
