[Question] How do I assign the backlight compensation function to the Fn button?

If you assign [Backlight Comp] to the Fn (Function) button in Easy shooting mode, you can toggle the backlight compensation function on and off during shooting by pressing the Fn button.

Fn (Function) button

In Easy shooting mode, [Backlight Comp] has been already assigned to the Fn(Function) button at the time of purchase. If you have not yet changed the Fn button settings in the Easy shooting mode, just pressing the Fn button allows you to enable the [Backligh Comp].

If you have changed the Fn button setting in the Easy shooting mode, you can assign [Backlight Comp] with the following procedures.

  • 1Turn the mode dial to EASY.
  • Turn the mode dial to EASY.

  • 2Press the [MENU] button. The shooting menu appears.
  • Press the [MENU] button to display the shooting menu.

  • 3Press the [ADJ./OK] button Left and then press Down. The setup menu appears.
  • Press the [ADJ./OK] button left and then press down.

  • 4Press the [ADJ./OK] button Right to select [Set Fn Button] and then press Right again. Press the [ADJ./OK] button Up Down to select [Backlight Comp], and press the [ADJ./OK] button to configure the setting.
    The display returns to the shooting screen.
  • select [Backlight Comp]

  • 5Press the Fn button to turn on the Backlight compensation function. The symbol appears on the picture display.
  • The symbol appears on the picture display.
  • Press the Fn button again to turn off the Backlight compensation function. The symbol disappears from the picture display.

  • [Backlight Comp] can only be set in Easy shooting mode.
  • [Backlight Comp] cannot be used during Macro shooting.
