Digital filters, offering a wider choice with new options

Digital filters let you add various visual effects to your images with great ease. With the addition of new Twinkle, Sketch and Posterization options, the K-5 offers a choice of 18 digital filters (or eight filters during shooting, including a Custom filter). You can even apply multiple filters (up to 20 filters, including a digital filter used during shooting) to a single image to produce a more creative, eye-catching image.

Digital filters available during image editing: Toy Camera, Monochrome, Retro, Color, High Contrast, Soft, Color Extraction, Twinkle, Sketch, Watercolor, Fisheye, Pastel, Slim, Miniature, HDR, Posterization, Base Makeup, and Custom.

New Cross Process mode to finish images with unexpected colors

The K-r features the highly creative, random Cross Process mode,* which produces eye-catching images with unique, stylized colors. Choose between Shuffle, which generates different results every time you take an image, and Preset (with three options). When you come across an image that you like, you can register all the parameters used for that particular image (up to three sets of parameters).

* Cross processing is a technical procedure used in film photography in which the film is deliberately processed using the chemical solution intended for a different type of film, altering tones and contrast.

Comprehensive software for easy image filing and creative editing

The K-5 comes with PENTAX Digital Camera Utility 4 — an all-in-one software package providing an extensive range of image filing, viewing and editing functions. Designed based on the renowned SILKYPIX image development engine,** this high-performance software processes RAW-format files with great speed and efficiency. It also offers easy customization to suite your preferences: For instance, you can create a separate control panel for each tab, and move frequently used functions to the most accessible, convenient location.
