11-point wide-frame AF with 9 cross-type sensors captures the subject in sharp focus

The K200D features a sophisticated 11-point wide-frame autofocus system incorporating PENTAX’s acclaimed SAFOX VIII autofocus sensors. Of the 11 AF sensors, the nine middle ones are cross-shaped to assure pinpoint focus on both vertical and horizontal subjects. Since the 11 sensors are distributed to cover a large part of the image field, you can capture the subject in sharp focus and with great accuracy even when it is positioned off center. In fact, this system assures both flexible image framing and quick response in a wide range of shutter opportunities.

Up to four images of the moving subject can be captured at the speed of approx. 2.8 frames per second (at BEST image quality in JPEG format).
