A viewfinder with a 100-percent field of view was a luxury in the past, because, as the field of view approaches 100 percent, the viewfinder must be assembled with increasing care and accuracy, then subject to stringent quality inspections — all of which means a higher production cost. By inventing an original mechanism that accurately and flexibly regulates the imaging sensor, PENTAX realized a breakthrough viewfinder design in which the image actually recorded by the camera faithfully corresponds to the image seen in the viewfinder. This design successfully accomplishes both reduced overall camera size and a 100-percent field of view, without the need to enlarge the pentaprism unit.

images that can be enlarged into large-size prints (as large as 600mm x 900mm),

The PENTAX-original sharpness control function lets you enhance the image's sharpness
with great ease, so you can be more aggressive and flexible in your image trimming.
New-generation SR mechanism,
compatible with all PENTAX lenses
The K-7 incorporates the PENTAX-developed SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism in its body. This innovative mechanism is compatible with all PENTAX interchangeable lenses, and effectively compensates for the adverse effect of camera shake by up to approximately four shutter steps. Even at dimly lit locations, you can handhold the K-7 and use the ambient light without worrying about camera shake. It even compensates for the slightest level of camera shake, which is discernible only in enlarged images, to define the subject more sharply and crisply.
