PENTAX MX-1 compact digital camera wins
Product Design 2013 at Germany's Red Dot Design Award

PENTAX RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. is pleased to announce that the PENTAX MX-1 compact digital camera has been selected a Product Design 2013 winner at the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in Germany. Sponsored by Nordrhein Westfalen Design Center in Germany, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the world's most prestigious design awards. Each year, products launched on the market over the previous two years are judged by nine different criteria, including degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability and ecological compatibility.

This year, the PENTAX MX-1 was selected from 4662 entries in 19 different categories as one of the Product Design winners.

PENTAX MX-1 features on optical four-time zoom lens offering a large maximum aperture of F1.8 to 2.5 and a 28mm wide-angle coverage (in the 35mm format). MX-1 is also equipped with a top sensitivity of ISO 12800, approximately 12.0 effective megapixels, and full HD-standard movie recording. The classical design is made to resemble a classic film camera with its genuine brass covers and metal accents for a refined finish. The other sophisticated details such as aluminum lens ring, metal tripod socket and metal strap lugs enhance its luxurious feel, and give more joy to keep using MX-1.
