Gold Prize at German Design Award 2013

PENTAX RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. is pleased to announce that the PENTAX K-01 lens-interchangeable digital camera has been selected as Gold Prize winner at the German Design Award 2013.

Held annually since 2006, the German Design Award is a highly prestigious international design award organized by The German Design Council, which was founded in 1953 with the support of the German Ministry of Economics and Technology. To qualify for this award, a product must not only have already been awarded a national or international design prize, but it must also be nominated by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology.

The Award is composed by 9 different categories. The Gold and Silver prizes are selected from each category. This year, the PENTAX K-01 was selected from nearly 1,500 candidates as a Gold Prize winner in the life style design category.

Launched in March 2012, the PENTAX K-01 is a high-performance lens-interchangeable digital camera with such outstanding specifications as super-high-resolution image quality supported by approximately 16.28 effective megapixels, a top sensitivity of ISO 25600 and Full HD video recording capability. Designed by world-renowned industrial designer Marc Newson, its clean, geometric body signifies a bold move by PENTAX to create a truly original and innovative design.
